A recent study in the journal Bone stated women at risk of osteoporosis can maintain bone density as they age by including high impact exercise that includes weight training - at least two times a week. Exercise was not effective when it was performed less than two times per week. Researchers tracked middle-aged women with osteopenia from 1998-2014. The women exercised four times a week from 30 to 65 minutes per session. Sessions consisted of bone-building exercises: aerobics (high and low impact) and strength training with free weights and machines. The women who exercised on a regular basis experienced a significantly lower rate of bone loss than women in the control group who did not.
Consistency is the key to success! Maintaining bone density is another Firm Advantage gained from exercise!
