It's Not All GREEK to me!

Dont be fooled by all of the Greek yogurts you now see in the dairy case, as the shelf space continues to grow for this very popular item. The leaders - and still the best choices - are Fage and Chobani. Fage started it all when they introduced this old - yet new to Americans - concept in manufacturing yogurt. The excess liquid is removed from the yogurt, resulting in a creamier/thicker product that also contains an abundance of protein and healthy active cultures, such as: S.thermophilus, L.bulgaricus, L.acidophilus, bifidus and L.casei. Fage and Chobani have remained true to the idea of keeping their products healthy and containing natural ingredients.
Yoplait has jumped on the bandwagon with an inferior product in their Greek 100 calories yogurt.
Compare the ingredients in Chobani 100 to Yoplait Greek 100 and you will see the reason that it's not all Greek and you should always choose Chobani over Yoplait and Dannon's 100.
Chobani 100 ingredients: (all of the above mentioned live and active cultures) plus - nonfat yogurt (cultured pasteurized nonfat milk, chickory root fiber, water, natural fruit puree (mango) passion fruit juice, evaported cane juice, pectin, natural flavors, fruit and vegetable juice concentrate (for color), lemon juice concentrate, monk fruit extract, stevia leaf extract, guar gum (natural thickening agent).
Yoplait 100 ingredients: cultured pasteurized grade A nonfat milk, fruit blend - strawberries, fructose, sugar, banana puree, water, corn starch, sodium citrate, citric acid, malic acid, beta carotene and vegetable juice (for color) vitamin A acetate, vitamin D3. Contains 0.5% or less of natural flavor, potassium sorbate added to maintain freshness, yogurt cultures (L. bulgaricus, S.thermophilus) Acesulfame potassium, sucralose.
However, Dannon has a relatively good product with their new Triple Zero yogurt line. These yogurts contain chickory root fiber and are using stevia as the sweetener - power packed with protein and definitely worth a try.
