Not enough time to exercise can no longer be your excuse! A workout filled with high intensity interval training can cut your workout time in half while boosting your metabolism. HIIT - high intensity interval training - increases aerobic capacity, causes more blood to flow through vessels - resulting in more work from your muscles. HIIT - improves athletic performance; helps the 50+ crowd retain muscle mass; lowers blood pressure and gives you more energy and physical confidence.
Example of HIIT: If you walk, run or bike - increase your pace for 30 to 60 seconds and then resume your normal pace for two to five minutes. Repeat this cycle for the duration of your exercise. Everytime you resume the high intensity cycle from your normal pace, it causes your body to increase its metabolism - thereby resultling in greater calorie burn. HIIT is safe and effective - you are increasing your intensity for no more than a minute each HIIT cycle.
